The British Standards

“BS 6173 is becoming more and more comprehensive, each time its looked at by the standards people they seem to change it, Intelligas has spent a large amount of time researching the problems this British Standard can impose on resteraunteurs and food outlets.

One of the main and indeed most common problems is that the gas interlock is far more prone to failing than the fan it's actually interlocking; of course the interlock failure causes your restaurant or food outlet to loose gas and of course trade.

The simple answer is of course to use your "override" switch to override the interlock and reinstate your gas supply, this is fine until the day (which is fast approaching) that override switches are no longer allowed. These will be discontinued because there’s no way of ensuring that they are being used correctly, there are almost certainly to be liability issues if someone incorrectly uses an override and an accident ensues

Intelligas are well ahead of the regulatory people and have developed two systems that simply tell you there's a problem with sensors of fans before it causes you a problem, this gives you time to get problems fixed before your gas is disconnected!

Thank you for taking the time to read my statement
